“A flower does not think of competing to the flower next to it. It just blooms.”
I’m not sure whose quote this is, but it couldn’t be more brilliant. I know what it feels like all too well to compare yourself to others, beauty wise and success wise. With the media, these days it’s easy to look at people on TV or look at people on social media and think to yourself, “Why can’t I look like that” or “How are they becoming so successful and it feels like I’m just stuck?” ….I hate to say this but I’ve mastered the art of that.
It’s one of the worst things to ever do to yourself.
Comparing yourself to others will only take away from YOUR happiness, YOUR beauty, and YOUR success. You have to realize that God made everyone the way that He wanted them and he set everyone on the path that He wanted them to be on. You can’t try to look like other people when God made you to look the way he wanted you and you can’t follow the same path to success that someone else is taking. That isn’t how it works.
It doesn’t matter if someone is thinner than you, or curvier than you, or shorter than you, or whatever it is that makes you feel that someone is better than you…these things do not define your beauty. What defines us is what comes from inside us.
“To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.”
I found this quote was like, “YESSS this is exactly what I’m talking about!” so of course I had to include it. This quote speaks volumes….because you can’t live your life trying to be like other people or comparing yourself to other people. I promise you, you will be so unhappy if you live life this way.
We’re kind of like snowflakes, we’re literally all different…there is not one of us EXACLTY the same. God has his own plan for each and every person in this world and that plan is meant specifically for you. So if you ever find yourself discouraged because what someone else is doing …it’s because it’s not supposed to work for you.
Find your passion, find what is that you love to do and pursue it. Find what makes you, YOU. No matter who you are, what you look like, if you have a disease, disability, or illness….like you’re beautiful inside and out.
Accept yourself, Love yourself, and tell yourself that you are beautiful…
